Goeman Auction Service was founded in 1955 by Lester Goeman. The company was established to provide the highest quality auction service to the public. Les Goeman designed and commissioned the Goeman Auction Pavilion in 1980, serving as the president and lead Auctioneer of Goeman Auction Service until the time of his death in 1987. A veteran of over 30 years in the auction profession, Mr. Goeman conducted well over 5,000 auction sales in an illustrious career that included twice being the President of the S.D. Auction Association; and a presidency position, and 15 year seat on the board of Dakota Telecommunications of Irene, S.D. Les Goeman truly loved the auction profession and the opportunities that it gave him to meet and serve new people. This love for the auction profession was passed onto his son Jeff, the current President and operator of the business.
Jeff Goeman, president of Goeman Auction Service & Real Estate Inc. entered into the auction profession in 1981. Jeff first received a real estate salesman's license in 1979 in the state of Colorado, then his home. Upon returning to S.D. in 1981, Jeff graduated from the Taylor Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Ia., In 1984, Jeff successfully completed the licensing requirements to become a S.D. Real Estate Broker.
Jeff is a current member of both the National Auctioneer's Association, and the S.D. Auctioneer's Association having served as President of the state association in 1988. In 1988, Jeff was awarded top honors in the S.D. Bid Calling Contest held in Huron at the State Fair. In 1991, Jeff and his wife Sally purchased the Goeman Auction Pavilion, near Lennox, from Norma Goeman, where they continue to conduct a growing and thriving business today.
Recent accomplishments in the auction profession for Jeff have included an association with Preston Evans of Opportunities Auctions, Atlanta Ga. in 1997. This association has led to several antique auctions in Alcester, S.D., Atlanta, Ga., Eureka Springs, Ak., and Council Bluffs, Ia., which have totaled near 10 million in sales! An additional association with Northland Promotions, Rory Brinkman: Owner, has resulted in over 10 huge auctions of automobilia, breweriana, soda, gas & oil collectibles conducted in the Mpls/St. Paul area since 1998.
Outside of the auction profession, Jeff lists his number one accomplishment as his beautiful wife Sally, business partner and mother three beautiful daughters Erin, Sarah and Megan; an 11 year Board of Directors position with Dakota Telecommunications where he held both Vice President positions and a position President for DTG (subsidiary). Jeff was also a 9 year member of the Lennox Area Development Corporation where again he held a Vice President position for several years.
Jeff Goeman views his ownership of Goeman Auction Service as an ongoing effort to provide their clients with excellent service and the newest technologies and methods that the industry can provide. Jeff personally strives to take his personal motto of "Treat everyone as you want to be treated, practice Christian principles, and conduct honest business" into each transaction. Mark 12: 30-31
